Sound Healing
As a Practitioner of Sound Healing the type of Sound Healing that I facilitate is based on the College of Sound Healing's approach as developed by Simon Heather. I do individual treatments and workshops. For information about the practitioner training please go to the next page 'Sound Healing Training' or visit the College of Sound Healing website.
Sound Healing is...
The therapeutic use of sound with the intention of healing. Sounds can be made using the voice and/or instruments. Some of the instruments used may be a singing bowl, drum, rattle, tuning forks or gong. The voice may use the sounds of toning, over toning, vowels or affirmations. Making our own sounds and listening to others’ sounds is healing in its own right. This is because our bodies are made up of cells and each cell resonates at its own frequency. Using sounds that the body needs and responds to can bring the body into harmony at a cellular level. Sound healing can happen in a variety of ways; following are some ways that I can provide.
Individual Treatments
The healer directs sounds at the recipient with the intention of healing. The treatment lasts for about an hour to one and a half hours. This includes time to think about what has bought you to Sound Healing and afterwards to discuss how you found the treatment. In this time you will be given time to fully recover yourself before going into the outside world. It is done with the person receiving Sound Healing lying on a treatment table fully clothed, although having bare feet can help the process.

This photo is of me giving an individual treatment as a demonstration during the training. I am using tuning forks to clear the energies before I use my voice.
Workshops - Sound Healing in Groups
Sound healing can also happen with groups of people. It may happen as a purposeful directing of sound to heal such as a sound bath or it may happen in other ways. These could be through songs, rounds, chants, toning, sound activities and sound meditations.
I offer Sound Healing Workshops in Derbyshire but I will also travel to established groups or other events to facilitate workshops in Sound Healing. If you book a suitable venue and gather a group of people together I can come and do a workshop. I can do any combination of voice work, instruments, a gong bath, meditation, spiritual art, spontaneous art or sound art. It is better to discuss your requirements with me so that we can arrange a mutually agreeable date and price.
I like to start my workshops by giving participants a 'gong bath'. This is a fully clothed business where one just has to relax and receive the sound. It is always a different
experience no matter how many times one has one and deeply relaxing. Generally most people have a fairly profound experience. On the odd occasion somebody really doesn't like it and where this is the case I would encourage them to leave the space until it's over.
